I am a 22 years old female and in good health. But I am losing my hair as it grows longer. Why?

Ever since I could remember when I try to grow my hair longer (past shoulder length) I will get a hand full (atleast 15-20) of hair strands. At one point I thought I wasn't drinking enough milk but increase of milk showed no differences. I've tested this by cutting my hair short (a little below my chin) and I only had the usual 1-5 strands come out. I shower every day using Brilliant Brunette and only 50% of the times do I use a blow dryer because thats what I thought was causing it. Ironically, it seems to improve slightly the morning after I blowdry. Why is this happening? And what can I do to help it since I want to continue to grow my hair longer????I am a 22 years old female and in good health. But I am losing my hair as it grows longer. Why?
First, it's not that you are loosing more hair. We all loose a lot of hair every day. When you have long hair it just sppears you are loosing more because you see it mote, when you blowdry it you don't see it either because it is being blown away and lost. You are worrying about a natural occurance. Now that many hairs is not as handfull. A handfull is like when they cut your long hair and you can literally pick up a handfull. The amount you are talikng about is normal. Don't worry but keep eating well to stay healthy. We loose skin cells and organ cells and our bodies are constantly renewing the cells as we grow and age. When we get older it slows down and the aging process is taking place....then you don't regrow all those lost hairs, and you need to wait for that to happen to start worrying please! Enjoy being young and healthy for now.I am a 22 years old female and in good health. But I am losing my hair as it grows longer. Why?
Just go ';Ellen';.... It's in!
my hair does the same thing, but mines' because I dye my hair. You could see a specialist because it could be genetics. good luck. try buying your shampoo and conditioner at the salon my hair improved when I used the better stuff. yea it's more expensive but so worth it! also, there is this stuff at the salon that you spray on your hair before you blow dry it to protect it.
Long hair tangles more easily than short hair, so when your hairbrush catches a tangle, it's going to pull out that 20 strand knot. Short hair has more strength and little knots will brush out instead of pull out. My hair loss always looks more dramatic when my hair is long than when it is short.

If you don't actually have bald spots anywhere, you're OK. You're perfectly normal.
i heard that many hairs grow out of the same follicle, so when the new hair grows out the old hair gets pushed out. you can ask your doctor about this if you notice your hair thinning out. do you lose 15-20 strands every time you pull it? or is it throughout the day.
You could try a scalp stimulating shampoo/conditioner like Nioxin. However, you could also get your thyroid checked...longer hair means more strain, which could explain why you're getting more hair loss. But even five hairs at a time is quite a bit.
Stop messing with your hair. Try to touch it as little as possible. Give your hair a break. Try wearing wigs, weaves, braids - whatever you can to keep the stress of it until you can gain more strength in it. The more you mess with it, the more damaged it will get. Get multi-vitamins and take them daily! Intake your needed amount of protein a day. Keep your hair conditioned and keep away from the blow dryer. It's best to let your hair dry naturally.
Genetics. See a doctor, maybe he/she can refer you to a specialist if it's that much of a concern.
its breaking off it might be dry drink water too
I'd see a doctor as soon as possible. You might have something wrong with your thyroid or worse.
Are you under any sory of stress? Stress caues that to happen. Also it could be genetics. Ask your mom, aunts, grandmother, whomever, about this and see if they went through the same thing.
maybe sumthin wrong go see doctor, and i think u loose hair with tower cuz maybe the hair stuck to the tower?

and d d is a mean son of a *****!

but is also funny
I had the same problem with my hair when I used Pantene Pro-V because it had to much nutrients in it so it caused my hait to fall out. I have used Brilliant Brunette and it didn't cause my hair to fall out. But maybe you should try using a lighter shampoo... i reccomend herbal essance...or any other repairing shampoo you like. Also...shampooing daily is bad for your hair. Shampoo every other and condition daily. Hope my tips work.
with my exp, never use blow dryer or never ues GEL, or any cemical, do you paint your hair? if yes stop painting.that all helps to grow your hair again, and don't wash every day ,and if you use balsam shampo stop using it ,only if really need just once a week.
OMG that is happening to me too except my hair is a little bit past my shoulders and when I brush it falls out and also I find hair like all over my bathroom and bedroom floor. My trash can iis full of it! I am trying to drink milk to fix it and I don't see a difference either but I haven't been doing it for long enough. I think my problem is that I have poor nutrition though. I think that the longer hair gets the harder it is to nourish, Try eating protine and vegitables.
is your hair falling out or breaking off? there is a difference and the longer your hair is.. the more susseptable to breakage it is.

if it is in fact falling out it could be a few things.. most likely it will be:

you arent getting the right vitamins/ neutrients

your hair follicles are blocked or ';dirty';

what you can do:

take a multi vitamin with high amounts of folic acid (this is a key neutrient to hair growth) other good vitamins for hair are- vitamin c, flax seed oil or fish oil (with omega 3 fatty acid), vitamin E , vitamin B complex

when you shower and wash you hair, ';massage'; your scalp to help open your follicles and cleanse them.

If you hair is oily especially... some people will tell you that natural hair oils are good for your hair, but in this case the oils may be blocking your hair follicles and causing the new hair growth not to come through

some other things to try-

you may need to change your shapoo or use a ';clarifying'; shampoo like every other day from your normal shampoo but i would go to sally beauty supply and they have a brand called follicure hair products.. it is for thinning ohair and hair loss

they have many differnt products so read the lables to see what you think your hair needs most. If nothing else- start with a shampoo for thinning hair and hair loss. THis will be the least expensive of the products and it is a good start.

Oh and make sure you are drinking lots of water and milk, juice.. not a lot of sugary stuff or a lot of caffiene.. they can effect hair growth

If you smoke or do drugs then it can effect your hair growth too
what you describe really is normal, women shed a lot of hair all year long. Unless you are having bald spots, you don't need to worry, it is normal to lose up to one hundred hairs a day.
Hair is continuously growing and is being shed simultaneously. Home made beauty recipes based on herbs and natural ingredients help improve hair growth. The luster in your hair will depend on what you eat and also on how you treat it. To Know more about your hair http://tipsfromruby-hairgrow.blogspot.co will help you
It might be a combination of things. Is your hair thick/heavy? Do you take vitamins?

Hair loss can be genetic or it can be a nutritional thing.

I have thin light weight shouterblade length hair and i lose i a good 10-20 strands every time i brush it. I was told by my hair dresser that part of that is normal hair loss and the other part was malnutrition.

It might improve after you blowdry because the hair fell out while you were showering.
To me I feel that it is normal. Because based on individual, your hair gets heavier when it's longer, and some scalp cannot manage with the weight, thus drops. It's normal to drop up to a 100 strands a day.

But when your hair is short, the rate it drops is slower.
I don't know but i can tell you one thing.... I wouldn't be fooling around on yahoo answers I would see a doctor.
go to a doctor he will advice u better
good sexy %26amp; good herat
