My son was born May 1st and I am breastfeeding. I have noticed in the last month that I have been losing my hair. It is literally coming out in handfuls. I take plenty of vitamins and drink lots of water. I am otherwise in good health.
Any suggestions would be greatly appercated.Someone Help! I'm losing my hair!?
Although this is very frustrating it is very common, but here are some helpful treatments.
Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables, which contain flavonoids, many of which are antioxidants that may provide protection for the hair follicles and encourage hair growth.
Use shampoos and conditioners that contain biotin and silica.
If you need to use blow dryers and other heated hair instruments, try to use the cooler, lower settings.
The hair loss you may experience during pregnancy could worsen over the next four months after delivery, and persist for several more. You should take comfort in the fact that this hair loss is temporary, and that hair lost is usually replaced within six to twelve months.
Someone Help! I'm losing my hair!?
hello,
i have a friend who had a similar situation. during and after the pregnancy she was given a lot of antibiotics and they had killed off all the good buggies in her system and a bunch of bad ones (candida) had moved in. she went on a candida cleanse for 2 weeks and her hair stopped falling out. the cleanse involves taking some supplements that you can get from a health food store and avoiding certain foods. ie) no red meat, no sugar, no flour products such as bread and pasta, no peanuts, no oranges or other citrus fruit, no milk products. essentially, lots of fish, chicken and veggies:) it's a little mundane but it's only for a couple of weeks.
