This is my first year in college, and I have started to notice that after I shower and when I brush my hair, I am losing pretty large amounts of hair, especially compared to what I was used to at home. When i go to wring the water out of my hair Ive been ending up with, not clumps, but also not a couple of strands of hair. Ive made a few changes in my life since I started college and I was wondering if any of these have made a difference?
I switched conditioner to the Pantene naturals, but the bottle says its supposed to strengthen hair. And its not a huge change, I usually switch conditioners regularly.
Ive started conditioning my scalp too. I used to avoid the roots because my hair gets really greasy really fast.
The water is much softer here than the limestone rich lake water I was used to washing my hair with.
I am under more stress obviously because of college classes and being away from home and family and friends.
I still go to sleep with my hair wet like I used to and occasionally blow dry it out before bed so that its straight in the morning. I have only straightened my hair once in 3 months so I'm not damaging my hair or anything with styling tools. Whats the deal? Why am I losing my hair?
How old are you? Hair apparently regenerates itself 7 years or so. Maybe that's what's happening to you. I'm pretty sure you also changed your diet after leaving home as in you don't get as many healthy home cooked meals as you used to right? A change in diet and conditions (water, humidity, air) can also lead to hair loss.
Try some vitamin supplements and try massaging your scalp whenever you wash, for a few minutes (with the tips of your fingers, not your nails).
Hope this helps
Good luck!!
P.S: I know what you're going through, I'm currently suffering from massive hair loss due to losing a lot of weight in a short amount of time. An increase in vitamin intake seems to have helped for a bit :)
