Help me please!!! I'm losing my hair and I don't know why! I'm so depressed...?

I am 20 years old. Besides smoking for two years and drinking every weekend or so, I lead a relatively healthy lifestyle. I was anorexic when I was 17, and underwent a serious period of stress. Since then, my hair has been going away in an agonizing fashion. I took Propecia for 9 months when I was 19, but stopped because it was too expensive and I saw no results. I thought it might be a thyroid issue...but my blood test have come back negative for any thyroid problems. I don't know what to do! I'm so scared to go out in public. It's finally getting to the point where I can't hide it anymore. I'm so depressed. All the men my age and all my friends have full heads of hair, and I'm only 20 and I will look like an old man before I'm 30. What can I do?Help me please!!! I'm losing my hair and I don't know why! I'm so depressed...?
Shave your head...it changed my life for the better...check out www.slybaldguys.com.....I, honestly, pick up more chicks now than I ever didHelp me please!!! I'm losing my hair and I don't know why! I'm so depressed...?
Sorry but hair loss usually runs in the family and there is no ';cure'; or way of reversal

Nowadays many woman find bald men sexy and are attracted to them , so although I do sympathise with you , not all is lost when your hair goes

Good Luck

PS

If it is really causing you worry , your GP should refer you to a specialist , who may offer you the opportunity of a hair piece , many of which nowadays look like the real thing
no cures for hair loss..it runs relatively in the family.
As a woman I vouch that shaved is sexy. Men loose their hair all the time...it's very common and not the end of the world. Hell I even find a receeding hairline to be pretty damn sexy on occasion ( i.e Steve burns)
I have read that taking propecia and then stoping will cause hair loss even if it wasn't meant to be. I suggest you either get used to the fact that you will be bald, perhaps shave your head now, go back on Propecia or look into hair transplants.. its not the end of the world....
Did you know how sexy bald guys are??? Don't worry, shave it off or keep it at a 1 haircut and you will be fine. Remember its not the end of the world
get a short hair cut sort of like a buzz cut that way u wont lose any more hair plus its an alryt hair style
*slaps head* nah thats harsh but u probs should go bald
first I hope you have given up smoking as this is unhealthy, expensive, unpleasant habit and rather silly, Most hair loss situations are hereditary based. Baldness is a sign of virility. There are some treatments which increase the blood flow but they are only temporary. I am sure that what you imagine you look like is far far worse than you actually do. As long as you clean and tidy with a pleasant personality I am sure you will get along just fine
Run with it. I lost my hair at about your age am now 29. I like it now. I found that when i got stressed i swaer i could almost feel it going which stressed me more. As women have said already.... men....go bald.....fact.... they dont find it any less sexy. What helped me get over it was to look at all the people who are considered sexy and watch how they carry themselves. I think that men with no hair certainly look tougher and women dont like weak guys in my experience. Just make sure you shave it. Imagine Bruce willis with a comb over??? Really aint workin is it???
Well I think you kind of made a mistake by taking propecia the first sign of hair loss. Taking that type of medication for hair is only temporary and only keeps working if you keep taking it, the moment you stop taking the medication is the moment when what little came back falls off and whatever hair you still had when you took it, adjusted itself to the medication, therefore making itself dependent on the medication. So you've actually somewhat sped up the process of your hair loss. SO STAY AWAY FROM THAT STUFF. I would seriously seek counseling, see a doctor about your depression. Theres no point in going depressed over something you have no control of brother. You have to gain control over yourself before you can do anything else. Then figure out what to do next. I would give you more advice but you didn't let us know how much hair you still had left and in what areas, and the color of your hair. Anyways well I hope all goes well with you and don't let that get a hold of your life, just move on cause there is so much more to life.
I've got a thin spot up top.. used to have long hair, used to shave every other day too.. it's just hair.

Now my dad, he was mostly bald by the time he turned 20-25 so if it's in your genes, then it's pretty normal.. The idea that you'll look like an ';old man'; is kinda silly if you ask me.

If you really want to do something about it, just keep in mind that chemical treatments (pills, topical, etc..) are only marginally effective and may slow or stop the loss and *may* regrow your hair, but it's my understanding that it's more likely to just slow the process. Transplants seem to be the most reliable way to restore lost hair, but that's expensive and if it's not done right, it can look like it's been obviously transplanted.. be sure to do your research on all your options and know all of your side effects.. for instance.. Propecia may regrow your hair possibly giving you a boost of confidence, but can cause sexual dysfunction as well... and really.. which is worse in the long run?

My opinion.. Razors are cheaper than Rogain. Embrace it. Bald is beautiful.. and as an added bonus, for about a week or two, the back of your head is sensitive enough to heat that people can't sneak up on you.
stress and weight loss can contribute to hair loss, see your doctor, they will be able to help you.
i wouldn't get so bummed. bic it! if you don't want to do that, check out this link...
It's because you are a worrier that your hair is falling out. You need to learn to relax more and take control of your well being. There is a book by Art Brownstein, M.D. it's called Extaordinary Healing. You can get it from www.harbourpress.com I have found it very enlightening as regards being in control of my own health, as I was bedridden for four years until August 06. I now cycle 16 miles daily and I pump iron regular, for what ? I dont know ! as I am seventy years old. It's the best tenner I ever squandered, as I thought at the time when I bought the book. Take care.
Hey you are only 20 no big deal, easily said I know. Many actors have lost their hair and still look good. Shave your head and be done with it. Bruce Willis did as did Kojak to name a few. Look at it this way no more hair cuts, blow drys no hair in your food or others, shower and go, no more dandruff', save big bucks. Also if it is bald in front you are a thinker, in the rear a good lover and all the way you think you are good lover, all gone who knows but the one you are with. Some women might just want to find out.
I don't know why you are losing your hair. Some men do at a young age. But you know, the fashion these days is to get your hair shaved all off, even if you are young. Some look quite nice that way. You won't look old, your face will be too young. I can really understand how you feel though. You could get proper advice too about it.
