Am I Losing My Hair?

I am 20 years old and am in good health. I have begun to notice that when I wash my hair I lose a considerable amount of hair. I know it is normal to lose hair in the shower but for some reason I feel as though it is a lot more than normal. I have thick curly/ wavy hair. Even on the days I do not wash my hair and I let it dry naturally hair falls out. I brush my hair when I come out of the shower and there after I don't brush it unless I'm straightening it or styling it.

What is happening? Why am I losing so much hair? In the shower I'd say about 50 hairs. And when my hairs dry on the days I don't wash my hair I'd say about 20 come out a day.

HELP!Am I Losing My Hair?
One reason could be a Thyroid problem, other reasons could be stress or alapecha (spelled wrong) or a hormone imbalance.

I once had large bald spots, most of my hair was gone and was told by three different doctors that it was stress and to wait and it would grow back.

Finally, my mother convinced me to see a Dermatologist and I found out that I had been having a immunological shut down from battling sever kidney infections! I was treated and my ';new hair'; came back healthier and prettier than before!

So the morale of the story- Go see a good Dermotologist-they can asses ';all of the above'; causes and point you to the right treatment! -Good Luck!Am I Losing My Hair?
mine does that too. its no big deal. you lose over 100 hairs a day and everyone is different so it might just be how thick your hair is...mine is really thin and i lose A LOT
I have the same problem I noticed it at about age 15 and Im now 21. I dont think there is anything wrong. If your hair grows in really fast and thick, then the shedding is compensating for the fast growth. I have not noticed any sort of bald spots or anything in the 6 years that it has been happening.

I was scared to when I first noticed it.
