Get checked for Hypothyroidism. Thyroid problems show up in adolescence for people who have them and one of the key symptoms is hair loss, along with brittle nails, lethargy and a few others. As with all medical problems some symptoms but not all may show up, however, with hypothyroidism most of the time there is some degree of all of them present. Hypothyroidism is very easy to treat; just one pill a day with dosage depending on the persons particular needs. Talk to your doctor about getting a blood test.Ive been losing my hair since i was 12. im 15 now. why does my hair fall out?
That doesn't sound normal at all. Have you seen a doctor? This could be a more serious condition like alopecia. I had a friend with that condition and his hair fell out in patches. There are medicines that treat it that you can get from a doctor.
Alopecia areata (AA) is a condition affecting humans, in which hair is lost from areas of the body, usually from the scalp. Because it causes bald spots on the scalp, especially in the first stages, it is sometimes called spot baldness. In 1%% of cases, the condition can spread to the entire scalp.
You didn't give any other physical details, but abnormal hormone levels during puberty can cause hair loss. Specifically, thyroid problems cause hair loss. If it's a concern to you, ask your doctor about it during your next visit. Ask him/her to order hormone level and thyroid function blood tests. If those tests are abnormal you can do a nuclear medicine test called a ';thyroid uptake'; which measure how well your thyroid is functioning. It's very easy. You take a pill then lay still with the nuc med machine running for half and hour or so. If your thyroid is abnormal (common nowadays) that could explain other health issues such as weight gain/loss, goiter, hair loss, hair growth, bulging eyes, etc. It is something you would want to get under control now while your young if that is indeed your problem. Medications can usually do the trick and curb any further hair loss. See your doctor first to get the ball rolling. In the mean time you can start taking a vitamin for hair and nails.
Good Luck.
Have you used too strong of a shampoo? Or do you overbrush it? Don't wear your hair up.
