Will anesthesia make me lose my hair?

And if so, will it definitely all grow back? I'm getting my wisdom teeth out and trying to decide if I want to be ';put out.';Will anesthesia make me lose my hair?
No anesthesia makes you lose your hair.

A general anesthesia will render you unconscious or at least very out of it so you won't be able to drive yourself home. A local anesthesia only numbs the area locally.

Neither will cause hair loss. Will anesthesia make me lose my hair?
It will have no effect on hair loss whatsoever.
You definitely WONT lose any hair.

I think you may be mixing up Anesthesia and Chemotherapy here ;)

If you're squeamish at the dentist, I'd recommend full anesthesia.... or if you're not comfortable with being put under completely, ask them to use Nitrous Oxide on you.

I'm a scared patient when it comes to teeth, so I ask for the Gas every time. You'll still know what's going on, but all the unpleasant sensations will move to the edge of your consciousness... kinda like all the pain being just at your fingertips instead of your whole body.

Good luck!
Believe me, you definitely want to be put out cold.

Local anesthesia is an option, but do you want to be able

to hear the doctor grinding, yanking, digging, and gouging your wisdom teeth out? Sure your hair might fall out, I don't even know where the hell you came up with that, but you will definitely regret not going under. Plus it feels really cool to get knocked out like that. I always try to fight the sleep for as long as possible, but within seconds I am out. It is totally worth a little baldness.
I was completely knocked out when mine were pulled and I still have all of my hair!
That's proposterous. You may be thinking of chemotherapy which is a cancer treatment- that often results in hair loss.

But general anesthesia simply does not do that. People get ';put out'; all the time even for simple cosmetic procedures. They would not do that in such cases if it meant possibly losing hair.

Getting wisdom teeth out can be quite painful especially if your wisdom teeth are ';impacted'; (stuck behind other teeth). Get put to sleep just like I did- you wake up feeling well rested, remember nothing of the procedure and you still have all your hair!
